The modern golf  ball

"The new (Haskell) golf ball ruins all the links in the country, destroys the science of the game, brings 2nd class players on a level with the 1st class and encourages meritocracy at the expense of (golfing) genius." Outing Magazine 1903

Ah yes, the modern ball, bringing both unexpected distance and control,  to the average golfer. It’s pure white cover making it easy to find. It’s aerodynamically efficient, it’s dimpled pattern making it easy to get the ball in the air.

As with all modern products, technology has taken hold and the array of golf balls, styles, and types available is overwhelming and ever broadening. Advances in technology have happened so fast that  with the modern ball and the use of modern golf club technology huge distance has been reached.

Also it is believed that with the modern ball and it’s lower cost of production, it has brought millions, and millions of more golfers to the game. As a result there is a golf ball in flight 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, on the planet earth, and you can bet your life, that there is someone yelling, shouting, or  talking to their golf ball 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
